SISTER CALLISTA ROY


Sister Callista Roy is a nurse theorist; she is from USA and she works at the Boston College School of Nursing. She teaches courses on epistemology of nursing and strategies for creating knowledge at the master's and doctoral levels. She is an important nurse in the world becouse she is the first theorist in nursing. This essay will examine Why Sister Callista Roy is a successful nurse.


Sister Callista Roy was the first nurse in make a PhD in the world; she studied neuro-sciences at the Boston College School of Nursing and she was the best student a long of her career. For Callista the PhD was a challenge becouse in this moment the nurse's labor was not recognized in the world, but she changes the nurse's history becouse she permits that nurses can make a PhD in all specialties such as: neurology, phiquiatry etc. This situation do to Sister Callista Roy a successful nurse becouse nowadays she works at the Boston College School of Nursing and she teaches some matters of PhD for nurses and doctors.


Moreover, Callista Roy creats ADAPTATION MODEL and it is very important in the world because this model or theory is a guide in a lot of hospitals and clinics around the world. Adaptation Model is based on the follow: All people can adapt to all situations and she says in her theory that the person is holistyc, when a nurse is with a patient she must think that this person is integral and nurse can not study alone the disease because the patient also have spiritu etc. This model is the most important in the world becouse it has permited to study diferent diseases specially in children.


In Conclution, i believe that Sister Callista Roy is a successful nurse becouse she changes the history of nurse and she used her knowledge for help to people around the world, also she improves the research in the nurses.
